PM Modi's Grand Rally in Kolkata Concludes BJP's Parivartan Yatra
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 14 (NationPress) Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver a significant address at a grand rally hosted by the West Bengal BJP at the Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata. This event symbolizes the culmination of the party's 'Parivartan Yatra' in the state as the vital Assembly elections approach later this year.
At the Brigade Parade Ground, the Prime Minister will engage in two distinct programs—one focused on administration and the other on politics.
To facilitate these events, two platforms have been constructed side by side at the venue. The administrative platform is positioned behind the main stage, where the Prime Minister will later present his political address.
Central Government officials are responsible for the administrative platform, from which the Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate several central government projects in West Bengal.
“After a brief engagement at the administrative platform, the Prime Minister will proceed to the main stage for his political address,” stated a member of the BJP's state committee.
In preparation for the dual events, a comprehensive security operation has enveloped central Kolkata since early morning.
The rally area and its neighboring zones have been designated as a 'No-Fly Zone', with the use of drones strictly prohibited during the event. Security personnel are stationed on the rooftops of nearby high-rises to monitor activities in the vicinity.
Approximately 3,000 security personnel have been assigned specifically for the rally, according to a senior Kolkata Police officer. The BJP leadership conducted a review of the rally’s security arrangements on Friday evening.
It has been reported that security measures are organized by zones, with deputy commissioners overseeing each area. A joint commissioner will supervise the overall security strategy, while additional police commissioners will be present on the streets today.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has blanketed the city with posters since Friday night, demanding the West Bengal government settle unpaid dues related to various central schemes. These posters are notably displayed along the routes expected to be used by the Prime Minister’s convoy, with messages such as “Go back, Modi” also visible in the area.
Conversely, the state BJP has decorated the city with rally posters and large cutouts featuring the Prime Minister.
