Kolkata, Feb 27 (NationPress) A single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court granted conditional approval for the BJP’s planned two-day 'Parivartan Yatra' set to take place on March 1 and March 2. The rally will commence from nine distinct locations across West Bengal as part of preparations for the crucial upcoming Assembly elections later this year.
After being denied police clearance for the event, the West Bengal BJP reached out to the Calcutta High Court, where Justice Suvra Ghosh heard the case.
Following the proceedings on Friday, Justice Ghosh issued a conditional approval for the event. She stipulated that each of the nine rallies should not exceed 1,000 participants. Furthermore, she instructed the state police to maintain order and prevent any disturbances during the rallies.
The court also established that the rallies should be held between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
According to sources within the state BJP, the rallies will be conducted in phases on March 1 and March 2, with no events scheduled for March 3 and March 4 due to the upcoming 'Dol Yatra' festival on March 3 and 'Holi' festival on March 4. Activities will resume on March 5 and continue until all 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal are covered,” stated a member of the BJP state committee.
Prominent central leaders from the BJP, including members of the Union Cabinet, are slated to take part in the upcoming yatra. This group includes key figures such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, among others.
At the conclusion of the yatra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to address a significant public rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. However, the specific date for the Prime Minister's address in March is yet to be determined.
