Modi's Campaign Trail: Kicks Off in Siliguri, Concludes in Bhabanipur
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to engage in a series of 14 election-oriented events across West Bengal next month. His campaign is expected to kick off from Siliguri in the Darjeeling district and culminate in a grand roadshow and rally in Bhabanipur, located in South Kolkata, according to sources from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The first phase of voting in Siliguri is set for April 23, while Bhabanipur, where a fierce battle is anticipated between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition, is scheduled for the second phase on April 29.
Currently, plans indicate that the Prime Minister will participate in two events in Kolkata—one in a North Kolkata Assembly constituency and the other in South Kolkata, with Bhabanipur being the likely choice due to the intense competition this election.
The 14 events will feature public addresses by the Prime Minister along with roadshows.
In his last rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Central Kolkata, he stated that a government change in West Bengal is not just likely but inevitable, as indicated by the sentiments of the people.
"The upcoming regime change is reflected in the perspectives of the citizens of West Bengal. There is a clear desire to replace the current government and end the Jungle Raj in Bengal," the Prime Minister remarked during his address, which concluded the BJP's Parivartan Yatra prior to the upcoming Assembly elections.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be participating in eight events, comprising both roadshows and public gatherings.
The current national president of the BJP, Nitin Nabin, is scheduled to speak at seven public meetings, while his predecessor and present Union Health Minister, J.P. Nadda, will address six public meetings, as confirmed by a member of the party's state committee.
