BJP Kerala Yuva Morcha Demonstrates at Sonia Gandhi's Residence Over Ayyappa Temple Gold Theft
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) Members of the BJP Kerala Yuva Morcha organized a demonstration outside the home of prominent Congress figure Sonia Gandhi, addressing the gold theft incident associated with the Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala.
The protest, spearheaded by former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, involved the Kerala BJP Yuva Morcha voicing concerns regarding the Congress leadership's inaction on this matter, while insisting on a swift, unbiased, and clear inquiry by the CBI.
Attendees included Rohit Chahal, National General Secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha, and Manu Prasad, Kerala Yuva Morcha State President, along with hundreds of party officials and supporters.
During his address to the crowd, Thakur emphasized that temple assets represent more than mere physical valuables; they embody the faith, trust, and cultural legacy of millions of believers.
Protesters chanted slogans such as "An attack on faith will not be tolerated" and "Hold the guilty accountable!"
Manu Prasad clarified that this movement is not a personal vendetta against any individual but rather a democratic effort advocating for faith, transparency, and effective governance.
Thakur stated, "If any theft or irregularities have taken place regarding temple jewels or assets, it is not just a failure in administration but a betrayal of trust."
He accused the Congress of failing to take a decisive stance on this significant matter.
The public deserves clarity on who is accountable, the progress of the investigation, and what measures have been taken against those implicated. He asserted that any negligence, collusion, or corruption must be brought to light, adding that theft of temple property is absolutely intolerable.
Thakur alleged that the individuals involved in the theft are presenting gold as offerings to Sonia Gandhi.
The BJP adheres to a zero-tolerance policy regarding matters of national faith. "Any harm to the sentiments and trust of devotees will not be accepted," Thakur remarked.
He further accused the Opposition, primarily the Congress, of having previously "looted the nation and is now plundering temples," thus jeopardizing the faith of millions of Hindus.
Thakur called for an independent CBI investigation, punitive measures against those responsible, and the establishment of a strong monitoring framework to protect temple assets.
Manu Prasad warned that if there is any delay in the investigation or attempts to conceal the truth, a nationwide awareness initiative will be initiated.
"We are dedicated to defending the sentiments of devotees and will persist in addressing this issue in a logical, factual, and democratic manner," he concluded.
