New Delhi, July 22 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a decisive stand on Tuesday in response to the Congress party's assertion of 'far deeper reasons' behind Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation, recalling the time when the Opposition attempted to remove him, accusing him of bias and partisanship.
Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation on the opening day of the Monsoon Session has caused a stir in political circles, igniting speculation and varied political responses.
The Congress swiftly claimed that the health reasons he mentioned were insufficient and suggested that there are underlying issues.
In reply, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey urged the Congress party to avoid politicizing Dhankhar's resignation and humorously likened their insinuations to the role played by actor Kadar Khan in Bollywood.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh referred to Jagdeep Dhankhar's unexpected resignation as 'shocking and inexplicable', asserting that the Vice President held both the government and the Opposition accountable.
Further, he suggested that more serious reasons were behind Dhankhar's departure, praising him for being 'a stickler for norms, proprieties, and protocol', which he felt were being repeatedly ignored in both roles.
Nonetheless, his compliments for Jagdeep Dhankhar were met with skepticism from Shiv Sena (UBT), another ally of the INDIA bloc. SS(UBT) spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi quickly challenged the Congress leader's 'vague' claims and sought to clarify the situation.
Without naming anyone, she disputed the assertion that 'Mr. Dhankar took both the Government and the Opposition to task in equal measure', highlighting that the Opposition had to file a no-confidence motion due to Dhankhar's alleged partial conduct.
“Let’s not forget that this moment is surprising,” she remarked.
Jagdeep Dhankhar submitted his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, invoking Article 67 (a) of the Constitution, citing health issues and the need to follow medical guidance as his reasons.
His resignation on the very first day of the Monsoon session sent waves through political circles, with the Opposition viewing it as a chance to challenge the government.
