Ghatsila (Jharkhand), Nov 4 (NationPress) The political atmosphere in Jharkhand became charged on Monday following remarks made by Chief Minister and JMM President Hemant Soren that were deemed offensive towards the trading community. During a press briefing in Ghatsila, East Singhbhum on Tuesday, BJP State Executive President and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu vehemently criticized the Chief Minister’s statements and called for a swift public apology.
Sahu recounted that during a gathering in Musabani, Hemant Soren allegedly stated, “Businessmen first grab the feet and then grab the neck.”
Describing the remark as “extremely derogatory and inappropriate,” Sahu emphasized that it insulted the diligent and honest business community of Jharkhand.
He asserted that the business sector is fundamental to the state’s economy and society, highlighting that traders were vital during the Covid-19 crisis by ensuring the supply of rations, medicines, and essential goods when the government was slow to act.
Sahu accused the Chief Minister of exhibiting “arrogance of power” and displaying a careless attitude towards those who significantly contribute to the state’s progress.
He warned that if Hemant Soren fails to apologize, the BJP, together with members of the business community, will initiate statewide demonstrations.
Additionally, he criticized the state government for alleged widespread corruption and illicit trade taking place under its oversight.
“There is rampant plundering of sand, coal, iron, and land. Sand worth Rs 500 is being sold for Rs 5,000, with mafias enjoying complete government protection,” Sahu alleged.
Concerned about the safety of traders in the state, he noted a significant increase in extortion, threats, and forced recoveries.
“All this is occurring under the influence of Hemant Soren ji. If the administration were vigilant, the business community would not have to live in fear,” the BJP MP contended.
Sahu affirmed that the BJP stands resolutely with the business community and the people of Jharkhand, promising to combat the mafia-backed government.
The bypoll in Ghatshila is slated for November 11, where BJP’s Babulal Soren, son of former CM Champai Soren, known as ‘Kolhan Tiger’, will compete against Somesh Soren of the JMM.
