BJP Serves Show-Cause Notice to Karnataka MLA for Defying Party Protocols

New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) The BJP has issued a show-cause notice to Karnataka MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for making remarks against its state-level leadership and defying the official stance of the party on significant political and public issues.

In response to the notice, Yatnal stated on Monday that he intends to present the facts concerning the current status of the party in Karnataka.

In a post on X, he mentioned, "I will respond to the notice issued by the BJP Disciplinary Committee Chairman, while also presenting the facts regarding the current state of the BJP in Karnataka. My commitment to the fight for Hindutva, opposition to corruption, Waqf-related issues, and dynasty politics will remain unwavering."

The notice was issued to Yatnal on Sunday, which indicated: "Your ongoing tirade against the state-level party leadership and your defiance of party directives, alongside making public statements contrary to the party's official position on all matters of political and public importance, has been reported in media as well as by various party forums."

The party has expressed concern that despite having received multiple show-cause notices previously and Yatnal's assurances of good conduct, acts of indiscipline have persisted.

"False and veiled allegations made by you against party leaders, along with defiance of the official stance of the party on matters of political and public importance, constitute a serious violation of party discipline as defined in Article XXV of BJP Party Rules 'Breach of Discipline section (a) and (1). Please provide an explanation as to why the party should not pursue disciplinary action against you. Your response should be submitted to the undersigned no later than ten days from the receipt of this notice," the notice stated.

The notice, signed by Om Pathak, member secretary of the BJP's Central Disciplinary Committee, further noted, "Please be aware that if your explanation is not received within the stipulated time frame, the Central Disciplinary Committee may assume that you have no comments to make and may proceed to make a final decision in this matter."

Previously, Yatnal had suggested a public awareness campaign regarding amendments to the Waqf Bill. However, several party leaders had raised objections, advising him to refrain from organizing the event.

In December 2023, he alleged that there was a Rs 40,000 crore embezzlement under the Yediyurappa government during the initial wave of Covid-19.
