Karnataka BJP Initiates Statewide Protests Against Waqf Policy

Bidar, December 4 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has commenced a statewide protest against the Waqf policy, starting from the city of Bidar on Wednesday.
The protest was spearheaded by state chief B.Y. Vijayendra, who led a march from Gandhi Jung to the office of the Waqf Board.
Following the march, the leaders presented a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner while chanting the slogan, “Our Land, Our Right”.
Additionally, a protest was organized in Kalaburagi by the opposition, who expressed intentions to engage with farmers whose lands are reportedly being taken by the Waqf Board in both Bidar and Kalaburagi.
“Why is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah showing anger towards farmers and Hindus? Notices have been sent even to temples with centuries of history, while the government is allegedly forcing entire villages to relocate, troubling farmers who have farmed these lands for generations. The Congress government is pushing farmers, who sustain the nation, to protest,” Vijayendra asserted.
He further criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for behaving as a “CM for minorities” and declared that BJP leaders, guided by former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, would initiate a statewide agitation against the government.
“This government’s display of arrogance has caused distress to farmers. The BJP stands with them and will ensure that CM Siddaramaiah learns a lesson. Remember, power is not everlasting. Farmers need not fear the Waqf Board; the BJP is here for you. The Congress government is corrupt and against farmers, and the BJP will persist in its struggle for justice,” he emphasized.
He also criticized Minister for Waqf and Housing Zameer Ahmed Khan for allegedly instructing the reclassification of farmers' lands as Waqf properties.
Moreover, he condemned the state government regarding the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) for misusing funds allocated for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, as well as issues related to the Valmiki Development Corporation.
“Thanks to our efforts, several ministers are now facing the possibility of jail time,” he added.
