New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) A significant political uproar has been ignited after stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra posted a video on his YouTube channel, labeling Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a 'traitor'.

The video has faced intense backlash from the Eknath Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena, with party officials vehemently responding to Kamra's remarks.

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC condemned Kamra, stating, "To call Maharashtra’s most favored Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister traitors and then claim it’s comedy? This isn’t comedy; it’s vulgarity... What is about to befall you will be a tragedy."

BJP MLA Ram Kadam also criticized Kamra, asserting, "In his quest for cheap publicity, Kunal Kamra has surpassed all boundaries. He speaks offensively about anyone at any time. Given his conduct and language towards the nation’s foremost leaders and journalists, the Maharashtra government will now impose the strictest measures against him wherever he may be found."

Earlier, Shiv Sena activists invaded and damaged the location of Kamra’s show at Mumbai’s Habitat studio. The police subsequently instructed the Shiv Sena members to attend questioning.

“If you view through my eyes, you’ll see a traitor,” Kunal Kamra remarked during his performance.

He ridiculed Eknath Shinde using a reworked version of a Hindi song from 'Dil To Pagal Hai', provoking laughter from the audience. The comedian shared the clip on the social media platform X. Kunal Kamra referenced Eknath Shinde's 2022 revolt, which resulted in the division of Shiv Sena into the Shinde faction and the Uddhav Thackeray faction.

Shiv Sena legislator Murji Patel has lodged a complaint against Kunal Kamra at the MIDC police station in Andheri, under sections 353(1)(b), 353(2), and 356(2).

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has also strongly criticized the comedian, asserting that no one should overstep the law and Constitutional regulations. “One must express themselves within the bounds of rights. While differences in opinion may arise, care should be taken to avoid necessitating police intervention due to their remarks,” he stated.
