New Delhi, July 8 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP showcased a theatrical performance on Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the visionary founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which is a precursor to the BJP, to promote his nationalistic beliefs.
The play, named ‘Rashtravaad Ka Adipurush’, was presented in the esteemed presence of the party’s National President J.P. Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
This performance is part of the BJP’s ongoing festivities commemorating Mookerjee’s birth anniversary, as noted by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva.
He explained that the performance illustrated various stages of Dr Mookerjee’s life, including his childhood nature, his academic journey to becoming a Vice-Chancellor, his political entrance, his resignation from Nehru’s cabinet to uphold national unity, and his significant interactions in Jammu and Kashmir with Sheikh Abdullah.
“All these themes were vividly portrayed in the play, with performers hailing from the National School of Drama,” stated Sachdeva.
He remarked that Dr Mookerjee’s core aim was to promote the principle of ‘Nation First’, and today, the ideals he nurtured have flourished into a banyan tree represented by the Bharatiya Janata Party — now recognized as the largest political party worldwide.
BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor emphasized that the theatrical portrayal of Dr Mookerjee’s life served as a powerful medium to communicate those foundational principles.
Previously, Nadda had digitally inaugurated six district offices in Delhi and Haryana in honor of Dr Mookerjee’s 125th birth anniversary on Sunday.
Nadda expressed that Dr Mookerjee’s birth anniversary carries both moral obligation and emotional weight for the BJP, highlighting him as a person of diverse talents.
Dr Mookerjee became a professor at Kolkata University by the age of 33 and entered the Legislative Assembly at 36.
Nadda stressed that Dr Mookerjee never clung to power but remained steadfast in his ideological commitments, even sacrificing his life for his beliefs.
His unwavering stance on his principles means that India will always be grateful to him, especially for his pivotal role in ensuring West Bengal remained part of the nation.
Nadda recounted that the seeds of divisive politics were planted soon after Independence, and Dr Mookerjee's resignation from the Nehru cabinet in protest laid the groundwork for the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which has evolved into today’s Bharatiya Janata Party.
