BJP blames Trinamool leadership for Chandranath Rath murder in West Bengal
Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s West Bengal unit on Thursday, 8 May 2025, directly blamed the top leadership of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the killing of Chandranath Rath, the long-time personal assistant of outgoing Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari. Rath was murdered on the night of 6 May in what BJP leaders described as a pre-planned, politically motivated assassination.
Adhikari Speaks Out
Addressing mediapersons on Thursday, Adhikari said Rath had been killed solely because of his association with him — the leader who defeated outgoing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
Adhikari stated:
