Chennai, Sep 25 (NationPress) On the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's birth anniversary, the Tamil Nadu faction of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to officially designate September 25 as 'National Humanity Day'.
The appeal was voiced by BJP state spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad, who emphasized that this initiative would serve as a commendable homage to the philosopher and political thinker, whose principles of Integral Humanism continue to shape India's developmental trajectory.
Prasad characterized Pandit Upadhyaya as a pioneering leader, economist, social thinker, historian, and journalist, whose contributions have profoundly influenced the ideological basis for the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which is the predecessor of the contemporary BJP.
He acknowledged that Upadhyaya's principle of Antyodaya, focusing on the upliftment of the most underprivileged, has been effectively realized through numerous welfare and empowerment initiatives initiated under Prime Minister Modi's guidance.
"The vision of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya regarding Integral Humanism, or Ekatma Manav Darshan, provides a timeless framework for inclusive national progress by harmonizing material advancement with spiritual and cultural values," Prasad remarked.
He urged the Central Government to institutionalize this vision by incorporating it into educational programs and promoting research at advanced levels, such as M.Phil. and PhD studies.
The BJP argues that dedicating a National Humanity Day to Upadhyaya would enable young Indians to grasp the profound essence of nation-building, grounded in compassion, discipline, and social harmony.
Prasad proposed that educational institutions nationwide celebrate this day with seminars, workshops, and discussions focused on Upadhyaya’s philosophy, inspiring students to develop empathy and service-oriented values.
Moreover, he mentioned that Upadhyaya's insights transcend politics, imparting universal lessons of equity and justice while honoring India's cultural heritage.
"By commemorating National Humanity Day, we can inspire students and academics to engage deeply with Upadhyaya's writings, fostering a generation devoted to constitutional principles, social justice, and sustainable development," he added.
The statement also commended Prime Minister Modi for promoting Upadhyaya's legacy through a focus on social welfare and inclusive growth.
"PM Modi's vision of self-sufficiency and unity closely mirrors the ideals that Pandit Upadhyaya championed," Prasad noted, asserting that recognizing September 25 as National Humanity Day would further fortify India's social and moral framework.
