Kolkata, Jan 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to implement the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative in West Bengal should they secure victory in the upcoming state Assembly elections later this year.
He emphasized, "Each district in West Bengal possesses its unique specialty. The residents here are endowed with intelligence, skill, and potential. The BJP will devise a tailored plan for every district, ensuring that the local populace reaps the greatest benefits. If the BJP assumes power in West Bengal, the ODOP policy will be rolled out to promote district-specific products," while addressing a public gathering at Singur in Hooghly district.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led state government for depriving citizens of Central schemes as a means to "settle scores" with him and the BJP.
"I recognize the Trinamool Congress' disdain towards both me and the BJP. However, their actions are leaving the people of West Bengal to face hardships due to the non-implementation of centrally-sponsored development schemes in the state," he stated.
Modi also highlighted that the Union government has launched a digital platform for fishermen nationwide.
"Various states are registering fishermen's names in their regions, but in West Bengal, this has been stalled. I have repeatedly communicated with the West Bengal government. The Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, fails to read my letters, but I urge her officials to do so. The Trinamool Congress is hindering the registration of fishermen under the 'Matsyajibi Yojana,' jeopardizing their future," he asserted.
In his speech, Modi accused the West Bengal government of intentionally obstructing land acquisition for erecting barbed fencing at the state's international borders with Bangladesh, allowing infiltrators to enter the state freely and become the Trinamool Congress' permanent vote bank.
He further remarked that the prevailing law-and-order situation in the state serves as a significant barrier to attracting new investments.
"A stable law and order situation is essential for luring new investments into the state. Presently, a 'mafia-raj' dominates West Bengal, where a syndicate tax is levied on everything. The BJP will eliminate this syndicate tax. This is my promise," stated the Prime Minister.
He concluded by saying, "A BJP-led government in West Bengal would provide the people with an environment free from corruption and violence, prioritizing the safety of women."
"There will be no more atrocities against women, as seen in Sandeshkhali. Incidents of rape and molestation in educational institutions will cease. Only you, the voters, can guarantee this change," the Prime Minister urged.
