BJP's Navneet Rana Criticizes Shiv Sena (UBT) for Self-Serving Politics

Mumbai, Nov 28 (NationPress) Former BJP MP Navneet Rana on Thursday accused the Shiv Sena (UBT) of engaging in self-serving politics, asserting that the party is now attributing its failures in the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections to Congress.

Rana's comments emerged amid reports of discord within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which suffered a significant defeat to the Mahayuti in Maharashtra.

Some leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT) have expressed the desire to operate independently in the upcoming civic elections to rejuvenate the party.

The Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve from Shiv Sena (UBT), publicly shared his concerns, stating, "Some leaders believe that Shiv Sena (UBT) did not receive adequate support in the MVA-INDIA bloc. They have proposed that the party should fortify itself and be ready to contest all 288 Assembly seats on its own in future elections."

The MVA alliance, which includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), and smaller allies, only managed to win 46 seats in the Assembly elections. This was a significant decline compared to their strong showing in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.

Rana criticized Shiv Sena (UBT), claiming that its priority was on obtaining the Chief Minister's position rather than collaborating effectively with coalition partners.

"In 2019 elections, they severed ties with BJP despite previously contesting together. Now, they are dissatisfied with Congress as well. This illustrates their focus on personal gain," Rana told IANS.

"They were hoping for the Chief Minister's role, which is why they are now discontent with Congress too," she added.

"Shiv Sena (UBT) has a disdain for alliances, regardless of their nature. Their politics is centered around ambition," Rana remarked further.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has characterized the rumors of the party exiting the MVA as "unfounded."

In the recent Assembly elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) emerged as the largest partner in the MVA, winning 20 seats. Congress secured 16 seats, the NCP (SP) claimed 10, and smaller allies garnered three seats.
