Maha Civic Elections: Sanjay Raut Denies Speculations of SS(UBT) Contesting Alone

New Delhi/Mumbai, Dec 21 (NationPress) Sanjay Raut, representing Shiv Sena (UBT), has rejected unfounded rumors suggesting that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies might participate in the forthcoming civic elections across the state on their own, on Saturday.
"Our aim is to restore the SS (UBT) to power in the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to safeguard Mumbai and prevent its division from Maharashtra. Just look at the onset of these assaults against our (Marathi) community," Raut remarked, alluding to the ongoing 'Marathi versus Migrant' conflicts.
He asserted that should the SS (UBT) fail to secure the BMC elections, along with 14 other significant civic entities in the state, there are fears that the state might relinquish Mumbai, hinting at speculations that the nation's financial hub could be transformed into a Union Territory (UT) under central governance.
"I am not asserting that we will independently participate in the civic elections. This sentiment is prevalent among our party workers. We are currently deliberating with them. Regardless of whether we contest together or separately, it does not signify that the MVA has disbanded," Raut emphasized.
In a cautious response, Congress state President Nana Patole commented that his party would consult its local branches prior to making any decisions on whether to run independently or as part of the MVA for the local body elections.
The SS(UBT) MP indicated that during every civic election, rumors about political alliances dissolving arise. This occurred when the party was allied with BJP, and similar speculations are emerging now, but he said, "there's nothing significant about it".
"We received millions of votes, yet they did not go to the intended candidates. This is why there are numerous calls for a vote recount, and the residents of Markadwadi (Solapur) expressed a desire for a mock ballot paper polling," Raut argued.
Taking a jab at the Mahayuti government, Raut stated, "They are expressing gratitude to the 14 crore citizens, but they seem to overlook that not all 14 crore voted for them. Consequently, individuals like Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should reflect on this situation."
