Is There a Bomb Threat to the Rajasthan HC's Jaipur Bench?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Feb 20 (NationPress) The Jaipur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court faced yet another bomb threat on Friday, resulting in a heightened security alert and a temporary halt in court activities. The alarming email warned, “Cancel the CJI’s visit. Evacuate the High Court by 12 noon. RDX bombs have been planted.”
In response to this threat, security agencies promptly conducted an extensive search of the High Court premises, as no threat can be taken lightly.
No suspicious items were discovered during the search, allowing court proceedings to resume at 11 a.m., albeit about half an hour behind the original schedule due to the threat.
This incident marks the 10th bomb threat directed at the Rajasthan High Court's Jaipur Bench since October 31, 2025.
A similar threat was reported just a day prior, on Thursday, which also led to another security sweep by law enforcement and bomb squads, yielding no concerning findings.
The recent threat coincided with the upcoming visit of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, who is slated to arrive in Jaipur on Friday to launch a seminar on cybersecurity.
The initial threatening email was received on October 31, 2025, with additional threats recorded on December 5, 8, 9, 10, and 11.
In 2026, bomb threats were reported on February 6, 17, and 19, raising serious concerns regarding security and the potential misuse of cyber technology.
CJI Surya Kant's visit today is intended to inaugurate a three-day seminar on cybersecurity at the Rajasthan International Centre.
Experts in cyber law indicated that while it is challenging to trace the sender, it is not impossible. They noted that such emails often utilize Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to obscure the sender’s IP address by frequently changing it.
Nonetheless, VPN providers maintain internal logs, and with legal collaboration, authorities can track the perpetrator using available data to prevent such threats and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of courts in the nation.
