Ghaziabad, June 16 (NationPress) The family of a medical student from Ghaziabad, who is currently caught in the war-torn region of Iran, has urgently called on the Indian government to facilitate his safe return.
Rizwan Ansari, a resident of Behta Hajipur in Ghaziabad's Loni area, is studying for his MBBS in Tehran. He had been residing in a university hostel which was recently devastated by a missile strike amidst the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
According to his family, Rizwan narrowly escaped the attack as he had gone out with friends to a nearby hotel for a meal when the missile struck. Upon his return, he discovered the building reduced to ruins. He managed to reach out to his family using a stranger's phone to inform them that he was unharmed.
Speaking to IANS, Rizwan’s mother, Yaman Rani, made a heartfelt plea to the Prime Minister. She stated, "My son aspired to be a great doctor, which is why he chose to study in Tehran. I implore Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through your platform, to bring my son back to India. He told us that his hostel building had collapsed and everything he owned was lost. Since childhood, he dreamed of being either a scientist or a distinguished doctor."
His father, Mohammad Ali, added, "Rizwan traveled to Iran last November. He has been extremely anxious since Sunday, as missiles have been landing close to his location. After dining out, he came back to find the building had vanished. He recounted seeing bodies around his area, stating, ‘I survived only because I was outside.’ I urge the Indian government to ensure the safe return of my son and all Indian students in Iran."
Ghulam Abbas, Rizwan’s maternal uncle, expressed concern, saying, "This is his first year in Iran. He informed us that Israel is constantly launching missiles. When he hadn’t stepped out for 24 hours, we advised him to go and get something to eat. His mobile phone, tablet—everything was lost in the destruction. We are appealing to the government to rescue him and others who are in danger there."
The situation in the region continues to worsen, leaving families like the Ansaris anxiously waiting for government intervention.
