Itanagar, July 21 (NationPress) The Director General of the Border Roads Organisation (DG-BRO), Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, made a significant visit to the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday to assess the ongoing progress of the Frontier Highway Project, according to officials.
An official from the Arunachal Pradesh government stated that this flagship initiative, the Frontier Highway Project, is strategically crafted to greatly enhance all-weather connectivity along the international border, promote regional development, and bolster national security through improved logistical capabilities and troop mobility.
Arunachal Pradesh shares a substantial border of 1,080 km with China, 520 km with Myanmar, and 217 km with Bhutan.
Before proceeding to the frontier areas, Lt Gen Srinivasan convened a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, where they evaluated the progress of various infrastructure projects undertaken by BRO throughout the state.
The DG-BRO provided a detailed overview of the ongoing and future infrastructure development plans, emphasizing the enhancement of road connectivity in remote and strategically vital areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
He underscored BRO’s commitment to both socio-economic progress and national security by improving the operational mobility of the armed forces. The discussions included the implementation of essential road networks, bridges, and complementary support infrastructure designed to meet both civilian and defense needs.
The Chief Minister praised BRO’s unwavering commitment and reaffirmed the State Government’s full backing for the timely and effective execution of these critical projects.
Lt Gen Srinivasan reiterated BRO’s guiding principle - “Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam” and expressed gratitude for the continuous support received from the people and administration of Arunachal Pradesh.
He stressed that such collaboration is crucial for the successful delivery of these transformative infrastructure initiatives. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta and other officials were also present at the meeting.
