Hyderabad, July 16 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has issued a formal demand for an apology from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his agreement with Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu regarding the formation of a committee to discuss the proposed Godavari-Banakacherla link project.
In response to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s assertion that the Godavari-Banakacherla project was not a topic of discussion during the meeting of chief ministers convened by the Union Jal Shakti Ministry in Delhi, BRS leaders referred to statements made by Andhra Pradesh's water resources minister Nimmala Rama Naidu, indicating that a committee was indeed decided upon for the Banakacherla project and related matters.
BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) expressed his thoughts on ‘X’, stating that the truth has become transparent and the masks have been removed.
Labeling Revanth Reddy as ‘anti-Telangana’, KTR accused him of misdirecting resources towards Rahul Gandhi and water allocations for Chandrababu Naidu.
KTR questioned whether Revanth Reddy's role as Chief Minister was merely to offer Godavari waters as ‘guru dakshina’ to his mentor, Chandrababu Naidu.
He further claimed that Revanth Reddy is jeopardizing the rights of Telangana’s 40 million citizens, stating, “It is evident who the true fighters for Telangana are.”
KTR warned that any illegal transfer of water to Andhra Pradesh would result in significant repercussions. “If outsiders deceive us, we will chase them away; if locals betray us, we will confront them here. We will not allow those harming Telangana to thrive,” he asserted.
BRS member and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao reiterated the call for an apology from CM Revanth regarding the committee on Banakacherla.
He queried Revanth Reddy's attendance at the meeting that was reported to exclude Banakacherla from the agenda, seeking clarity on any covert agreements made overnight.
Harish Rao insisted that Banakacherla was the primary agenda item and accused Revanth Reddy of misleading the public during his post-meeting press conference.
He reminded CM Revanth that the electorate expected him to safeguard the state's interests rather than offer ‘guru dakshina’ to Chandrababu Naidu.
Harish Rao also alleged that Telangana is being influenced by the BJP and TDP through hidden mechanisms, pointing to comments from a Congress MLA suggesting the presence of TDP affiliates within Congress.
