Hyderabad, Jan 28 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former IPS officer R. S. Praveen Kumar on Tuesday filed a police complaint against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy regarding the Formula E car race incident.

Praveen Kumar approached the Station House Officer at Narsingi Police Station, under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, asking for a case to be registered against the Chief Minister.

The former IPS officer accused CM Reddy of committing an offence of criminal breach of trust and incurring a significant loss to the public treasury, as Reddy also oversees the Municipal Administration and Urban Development portfolio. He urged the police to file a case under the relevant sections of BNS and look into this alleged massive damage to Telangana.

Praveen Kumar highlighted his extensive service to the state of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the nation in various roles, including District Superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, and Additional DGP. He also served as a war crimes investigator for the United Nations in Kosovo.

In his complaint, he referenced the case against BRS working president and former minister K. T. Rama Rao, expressing his dismay over the current politics of vendetta, which he claims is leading to the wastage of taxpayers' money and conspiracies aimed at undermining Telangana's future.

He contended that due to the Chief Minister's vengeful approach, Telangana missed a historic chance to become the e-mobility capital of India, a move that could have generated thousands of crores in revenue and created numerous jobs.

According to him, the Chief Minister's irresponsible and vengeful actions resulted in a serious breach of trust that the people of Telangana had placed in him, leading to a massive loss in revenue for the state's treasury.

“This is neither a policy failure nor mere coincidence, but could be a disturbing result of a deeper conspiracy to deprive Telangana of its global recognition while indirectly benefiting other states,” the complaint states.

He noted that Season 9 of the Formula E Prix, held in Hyderabad in February 2023, brought substantial revenue to Telangana in a short time.

Nielsen Sports Analysis reported that Season 9 generated around 83 million USD for the state. However, for various reasons, Ace Nxt Gen Private Limited, the sponsor that had signed a tripartite agreement with the state government and Formula E Operations (FEO), showed no interest and failed to respond to payment notices for Season 10.

Because the sponsor did not fulfill its payment obligations, the previous BRS government intervened to ensure Telangana did not miss out on becoming the e-mobility hub.

He elaborated on how KTR, as the minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, cleared a payment of Rs 55 crore to FEO for conducting Season 10 in Hyderabad.

Praveen Kumar alleged that after the Congress party assumed power, Chief Minister Reddy made a unilateral decision to cancel the Formula E car race, resulting in a loss of Rs 55 crore to the state's treasury.
