Aizawl/Silchar (Assam), March 19 (NationPress) The Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, is currently on a three-day tour of Mizoram and southern Assam. During this visit, he undertook a thorough assessment of the operational conditions and evaluated the force's preparedness and capabilities for border security operations.
According to a BSF spokesperson, on Wednesday, the BSF chief visited the Border Outpost (BOP) Steamer Ghat located in Shri Bhumi district (formerly known as Karimganj district) along the Bangladesh border. There, he engaged with the troopers and received a detailed operational briefing from the unit Commandant while reviewing the border security initiatives.
He participated in a Sainik Sammelan and later explored the riverine border area aboard a BSF watercraft, gaining insight into the challenges of safeguarding the international boundary with Bangladesh.
On Tuesday, the BSF Director General visited BOP Parva along with several other BOPs positioned along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Mizoram, where he evaluated border security measures and interacted with commanders and personnel deployed in the vicinity.
Chawdhary praised the BSF personnel for their steadfast commitment and professionalism in securing the demanding border and urged them to uphold their duties with the utmost dedication and enthusiasm. Subsequently, he arrived at the BSF’s Mizoram and Cachar (M&C) frontier headquarters at Masimpur in Silchar (Assam), where he conducted a detailed operational evaluation.
During a Prahari Sammelan, Chawdhary also interacted with officers and jawans while sharing tea with them.
Accompanying the BSF chief were Ravi Gandhi, BSF's Additional Director General of the Eastern Command, Sanjay Kumar Misra, Inspector General of the M&C Frontier, among other officials.
While in Aizawl, the BSF chief engaged in discussions with Mizoram Governor Gen Vijay Kumar Singh (retd) regarding various border-related matters.
Meanwhile, in a proactive operation, alert troops apprehended three Bangladesh nationals along the international border in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills District.
