Jaipur, Oct 28 (NationPress) Tragedy struck as two individuals lost their lives and 12 others sustained burn injuries when a bus transporting laborers came into contact with a high-tension power line in the Manoharpur region, situated approximately 50 kilometers from Jaipur, on Tuesday.

Officials reported that the laborers were en route to a brick kiln in Todi village when the incident occurred.

The bus allegedly grazed against an overhead high-voltage line, which led to an electric current surging through the vehicle, igniting a fire. Local residents hurried to the scene to assist in rescuing those trapped inside the engulfed bus.

Witnesses stated that many passengers suffered serious burns before they could be extricated.

Community members voiced concerns, claiming they had repeatedly requested the local authorities to either remove or elevate the height of these high-tension lines, but no action had been undertaken.

Following notification of the incident, Jaipur District Collector Jitendra Soni and senior police officials promptly arrived at the site.

A dedicated district police and civil defense team was also dispatched to aid in the rescue efforts. The injured were first taken to Shahpura Sub-District Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced two workers dead upon arrival.

Five individuals with critical injuries were subsequently referred to Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur for specialized care.

The hospital administration confirmed that an emergency team was on standby to receive the victims.

Initial investigations indicate that the bus may have exceeded safe height limits, leading to contact with the live wire.

Authorities have filed a case of negligence against the bus driver and are pursuing further investigations.

The identities of the deceased remain unknown, though they are believed to be migrant laborers working at a nearby brick kiln.

Expressing sorrow over the incident, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot stated, "The unfortunate event in Manoharpur, Jaipur, where a bus carrying workers was engulfed in flames after hitting a high-tension line, resulting in two fatalities and numerous injuries, is profoundly distressing."

"The rising frequency of such incidents in Rajasthan is alarming. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the grieving families, and I wish for a swift recovery for those injured," Gehlot, the former chief minister, expressed.

Recently, over 20 individuals lost their lives in a bus fire tragedy in Jaisalmer.
