Call for Strong Measures Against Unlawful Mining in the Aravali Range: Gurugram Deputy Commissioner

Gurugram, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gurugram has mandated officials to enforce strict measures in response to any reports of illegal mining occurring within the Aravali range of Gurugram district.

As per the ruling of the Supreme Court, the Aravali region is classified as a protected forest area in Gurugram, and it is the responsibility of every resident to safeguard it, stated DC Ajay Kumar.

Kumar made these remarks while leading a meeting focused on the issue of illegal mining with relevant authorities on Monday.

"The designated Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) are to collaborate with the Pollution Control Board, Police Department, and Mining Department to form joint teams for unannounced inspections in the Aravali region. If any complaints regarding unlawful construction or mining arise, immediate legal action should be initiated to halt such activities," declared the DC.

The DC also revealed that there are currently 32 stone crushers and seven brick kilns operating in the Naurangpur, Raisina, and Pataudi regions of the district. All entities have been ordered to cease operations due to the enforcement of GRAP-4. Should any crusher or brick kiln be found in operation, it will be promptly sealed.

"Any form of illegal construction taking place in the Aravali hills must be addressed with strict measures. There should be zero tolerance for illegal mining across the district. Offenders should not escape with mere fines," he emphasized.

He insisted that if overloaded vehicles transporting construction materials are apprehended, the procedure for auctioning such materials should be implemented.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Hitesh Kumar mentioned that a year prior, administrative actions were taken to dismantle illegal constructions in the Raisina hills area, highlighting the need for rigorous enforcement in this regard.

District Mining Officer Anil Kumar noted that operators of stone crushers source stones from Rajasthan or other regions such as Narnaul and Dadri for processing; they are prohibited from extracting materials from the mountains in this area.
