Gurugram, April 19 (NationPress) A team from the Municipal Council of Sohna has razed the boundary walls and gates of 12 farmhouses that were illegally constructed in the Aravali Range of Gurugram.
Officials reported that notices were issued to 18 farmhouse owners.
A campaign was initiated against unauthorized constructions spanning 100 acres of the hill, as stated by officials on Saturday.
SDO Rajpal Khatana from the Municipal Council was designated as the duty magistrate for this operation. A police unit from the Bhondsi Police Station was deployed to prevent any disturbances during the action. During this operation, boundary walls made of 5 to 7-foot-high stones were demolished, along with gates ranging from 10 to 15 feet tall.
Junior Engineer of the Municipal Council, Digambar Singh, mentioned that notices were sent to around 18 farmhouses. Some property owners rushed to the courts immediately after receiving the notice. 'Further action will follow if their petition is dismissed by the court.' Duty Magistrate and SDO of the Council, Rajpal Khatana, affirmed that the campaign against illegal constructions was conducted peacefully. Thanks to the police presence, no protests occurred.
It is significant to mention that the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram has directed relevant officials to take strict measures against those engaged in illegal activities. Forest officials indicated that the Gurugram forest department has pinpointed illegal farmhouses in the Aravali Range, and notices will soon be delivered.
As per officials, there is a prohibition on constructing permanent structures and fencing within the Aravalli Forest area. Despite this, numerous farmhouses have been constructed illegally in the forest zone. The Forest Department has issued notices to the concerned parties for demolition.
Additionally, sources have indicated that plans are underway to assign all demolition efforts in the Aravali to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).
It is believed that much of the Aravalli land is officially owned by the corporation. Therefore, the Forest Department is planning to transfer the responsibility for all demolition actions across the entire Aravalli to the Municipal Corporation itself.
