Did GMDA and MCG Successfully Tackle Illegal Vendors in Gurugram?

Gurugram, May 6 (NationPress) In a noteworthy anti-encroachment initiative that spanned four days, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) collaborated with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to eliminate over 75 unauthorized vegetable carts from Khandsa Road and more than 14 illegal carts along Mahavir Chowk, Agrasen Chowk, and Bus Stand Road, aiming to address significant encroachments in these areas.

This action was prompted by numerous complaints from residents regarding the chaos caused by illegal vendors occupying the main road section near the Sabzi Mandi on Khandsa Road.

The overwhelming number of carts outside the mandi area was severely disrupting traffic flow for both school buses and commuters.

R.S. Batth, serving as the Nodal Officer for encroachments in Gurugram, undertook three inspections over 45 days and instructed all encroachers to vacate the area and eliminate any illegal occupation of the main roads.

Additionally, teams from MCG and the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) conducted separate inspections to assess the situation and issued warnings to violators.

During a two-day operation that began Monday night and concluded Tuesday morning, the enforcement teams from GMDA and MCG dismantled over 75 illegal carts that were operating without valid licenses and significantly obstructing traffic on Khandsa Road.

The items sold by the vendors remained unharmed, with all fruits and vegetables returned to their owners.

Furthermore, two illegal fish markets, which had received previous warnings on two occasions, were sealed by the MCG.

Unauthorized ramps built in front of shops were also removed.

"It became evident that vendors were illegally establishing carts outside the mandi area. Our intention is not to inconvenience any genuine individual or law-abiding citizen; however, strict measures will be enforced against local mafia involved in operating these illegal carts in the city," stated R.S. Batth, Nodal Officer for encroachments in Gurugram and GMDA District Town Planning (DTP).

R.S. Batth, along with 40 officials from the MCG Enforcement Wing, a CMO team of 10 officials, and the GMDA Enforcement Wing, were present during the demolition operation.

During the past four days, the teams also inspected an 800-meter stretch covering Mahavir Chowk, Agrasen Chowk, and Bus Stand Road where prior demolition efforts had occurred.

As a result, 14 illegal carts that had re-encroached public spaces were also removed.

GMDA DTP emphasized that multiple warnings are issued to violators establishing illegal structures and encroaching on public areas before any stringent actions are taken against them.

Moreover, those who can provide the required permissions or appear to be legitimate in their operations are not disturbed during these demolition efforts.
