Gurugram: GMDA Executes Anti-Encroachment Operation on SPR Road

Gurugram, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has intensified its efforts against encroachment, as the Enforcement Wing conducted a thorough demolition operation on Monday along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR). This operation targeted unauthorized permanent structures in Rambir ki Dhani that were erected without the necessary permissions.

According to R.S. Baath, DTP GMDA and Nodal Officer for Enforcement in Gurugram, "When the alignment for the SPR was determined and the land was allocated, alternative plots were granted by HSVP to the landowners. However, despite receiving possession, these owners continued to occupy the land for the past two years and constructed permanent buildings in Rambir ki Dhani, located along the main road of SPR. Furthermore, it was discovered that additional shops had been established and rented out to furniture vendors, engaging in commercial activities without proper authorization. Therefore, action was warranted against these illegal activities today."

The anti-encroachment initiative extended along the SPR up to Vatika Chowk, resulting in the demolition of three major structures, several small rooms, three nurseries, and five furniture shops. Approximately two acres of green belts in Sector 71 were also cleared of encroachments.

Over 70 police personnel, along with MCG officials, supported the GMDA Enforcement Team during this operation.

"This crucial stretch serves as a key route linking New Gurugram to sectors 50 to 74, and it also accommodates traffic from the highway. Illegal encroachments had caused significant traffic congestion along the green belts. The GMDA is also planning to develop service roads along this route," DTP GMDA remarked.

During the operation, it was noted that some houses on the opposite side of the sector had been rented out to families. The occupants were given notice to vacate prior to the demolition of these unlawful structures.

Local residents reported that some owners who had received alternative plots from HSVP had sold these plots for a profit while continuing to reside illegally in the area.

The GMDA Enforcement Team issued stern warnings to all violators, urging them to comply with the law and remove their encroachments from green belts and main roads, or face serious consequences.
