Gurugram, March 27 (AINS) The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has persistently carried on with its stringent anti-encroachment initiative on Sheetla Mata Road for the second day in a row on Thursday.

A stretch of roughly 1 km along one side of this vital road was addressed during Thursday's operation. The Nodal Office responsible for eliminating encroachments in Gurugram, along with DTP GMDA, R.S. Batth, and the Enforcement Wing of GMDA alongside MCG officials, executed the demolition.

Approximately 50 police officers supported the teams during this operation, which resulted in the removal of encroachments by over 150 shopkeepers in the marble market.

The materials and products displayed in front of their establishments were taken away. Additionally, tin shelters and advertising boards were dismantled to free up public spaces.

Furthermore, any unauthorized stairs or steps built by shop owners were also disassembled. Shop owners in the repair business were instructed to clear the road, with a guideline that only one vehicle space should be allocated for repair services.

R.S. Baath emphasized that an area extending at least 10 feet from the main road must be kept free of encroachments to enhance traffic flow and prevent congestion.

“We will persist in our efforts against encroachment and ensure that no public or government land is illegally occupied. Prior warnings have been issued before the drives, and strict measures are being enforced against offenders,” stated Baath.

Over two days of demolition efforts by GMDA on Sheetla Mata Road, illegal tin structures erected by 220 shopkeepers and other encroachments along this crucial section were removed.

The development authority has intensified its crackdown on encroachments, having conducted its inaugural enforcement drive on Sheetla Mata Road on Wednesday.

Officials reported multiple complaints from residents concerning illegal constructions along this vital route, which were obstructing traffic flow during peak commuting hours.

Shyamal Misra, Chief Executive Officer of GMDA, also mandated that necessary actions be taken to eliminate the widespread encroachment on Sheetla Mata Road, one of the major thoroughfares in the city.
