New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Cassandra Mae Spittmann, a visually impaired German vocalist, experienced a life-altering moment when Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged her in his monthly radio show, 'Mann Ki Baat.'
Performing under the aliases CassMae and Cassidy, she garnered significant attention after her beautiful interpretations of 'Jagat Jaana Palam' and 'Shiva Panchakshara Strotam' captivated the Prime Minister, who praised her in the 105th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat.'
On Tuesday, PM Modi once again commended CassMae for her commitment to promoting Indian culture through her artistry.
“The global interest in Indian culture is ever-increasing, and individuals like CassMae have significantly contributed to this cultural dialogue. Through her tireless efforts, she, along with many others, has highlighted the richness, depth, and diversity of India's heritage,” PM Modi tweeted.
CassMae expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Prime Minister, noting that his mention of her in Mann Ki Baat was transformative.
“Hearing that Narendra Modi ji mentioned me in his Mann Ki Baat was an incredible experience. I was left speechless for several minutes. It has changed my life immensely,” she shared.
She recounted that following the broadcast, she began receiving 10 to 20 interview requests daily.
“Last year, I received a call from the Prime Minister's Office expressing his desire to meet me. Our meeting was filled with kindness and humor. Despite being a prominent politician, he presented himself as a down-to-earth individual. I admire that quality in him,” she recalled.
“I’m deeply thankful to him for acknowledging my work. I never expected him to appreciate my song or recognize my passion for India. It still feels surreal,” she added.
“I am passionate about music and spirituality, and I love India,” CassMae remarked.
During a Mann Ki Baat episode in September 2023, PM Modi featured CassMae’s performances and praised her abilities.
“Such a melodious voice... Each word resonates with profound feelings. You can sense her connection to God. You would be surprised to learn that this voice belongs to a daughter from Germany,” he commented.
Commending her versatile singing and impressive diction, he said, “What a sweet voice... Each note and word conveys emotion. Her love for God is palpable.”
Highlighting her challenges and successes, PM Modi remarked, “CassMae has been blind since birth, but that has not hindered her from achieving remarkable accomplishments. Her enthusiasm for music and creativity is truly motivational.”
It is noteworthy that the German artist commenced her journey with African drumming at the age of three and only discovered Indian music approximately 5-6 years ago. Since then, she has released many songs in Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, and Urdu. Her pronunciation in these languages has received widespread acclaim. She regularly shares her piano-based acoustic versions of devotional songs, captivating audiences with her powerful voice, nuanced delivery, and deep emotional resonance.
