New Delhi, May 16 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially lodged an FIR and commenced an inquiry into the police custody death of a man who was charged with assaulting another individual due to personal grievances in Kerala’s Kottayam District nearly a decade ago, as confirmed by an official on Friday.
The deceased, Siby, lost his life while an investigation was underway against him for allegedly causing bodily harm and using obscene language in public against Amal Kannanchirayil Nellithanathumala by officers from the Marangattupally Police Station.
The violent incident involving Siby occurred on June 29, 2015. He passed away during the investigation on July 11, 2015, leading to the case being reassigned to the Crime Branch of Kerala Police.
Siby’s demise ignited a political uproar in the state, prompting calls for accountability from the implicated police officials.
