The minor was reported missing on August 9, 2023, after she left for tuition and failed to return, raising suspicions of kidnapping for malicious purposes.
The initial investigation was conducted by the local police and subsequently by the CID West Bengal. After the mother of the minor girl petitioned the Calcutta High Court, the case was handed over to the Special Crime Branch of CBI in Kolkata.
Through intelligence and analysis of call detail records, they traced the missing girl to Pali, Rajasthan. A CBI team went to Pali and verified the information, leading to her recovery from the home of the suspects on August 8, 2025.
The investigation revealed that the girl was a minor at the time of her disappearance but was falsely represented as an adult in marriage documents. She had been sold for marriage purposes on two occasions, raising concerns about a larger human trafficking operation.
