Imphal, April 1 (NationPress) Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla stated on Tuesday that the central universities located in Manipur are vital for national integration as they draw students from all over the nation.

During his speech at an event marking the foundation days of Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha, held at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, the Governor emphasized the importance of national unity and observed that the central universities in Manipur serve a significant purpose by hosting students from various states.

He pointed out how this cultural exchange allows students from different regions to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage and history of Manipur.

The event was part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative and highlighted the diverse cultural heritage of Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha.

Messages from the Governors of Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha underscored the profound cultural and historical connections among the states.

Students from the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Manipur, and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur, presented cultural performances that showcased the varied traditions of Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha.

The Governor urged the students to act as ambassadors of Manipur, promoting the state’s rich history and cultural legacy during their travels outside the state. He also discussed various student exchange programs that enhance cross-cultural understanding and foster stronger interstate relationships.

Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Governor Sumant Singh, and other senior officials were present at the event.

The Central Agricultural University (CAU) was founded on January 26, 1993, under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), with its headquarters in Imphal. It is a fully residential institution serving all northeastern states, with the exception of Assam. Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur, established in 2015 under the Union Ministry of Education, aims to cultivate technology and human resources for the Information Technology (IT) sector and position Manipur as a hub for IT services and a gateway to South-East Asia.
