New Delhi, July 1 (NationPress) The Centre launched 'RailOne', a super app crafted to function as a comprehensive platform for all railway-related inquiries, passenger requirements, and services.
In an event held in the national capital, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced the app, aiming to improve user convenience by merging various services into one interface.
The RailOne app is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store, featuring a user-friendly design. It consolidates services such as unreserved and platform tickets with a 3 percent discount, live train tracking, grievance redressal, E-catering, porter booking, last-mile taxi, PNR tracking, and additional services.
While ticket reservations will still be processed through IRCTC, the ‘RailOne’ app is licensed by IRCTC, similar to other commercial applications linked to IRCTC, as per the ministry.
Users can log in with a personal identification number (mPIN) or biometric data. It also supports existing RailConnect and UTS credentials, simplifying access by eliminating the need for multiple apps.
Currently, passengers have to utilize various apps and websites for different services. They rely on IRCTC ‘Rail Connect’ for ticket booking, ‘Rail Madad’ for feedback, ‘UTS’ for unreserved tickets, ‘RCTC eCatering Food on Track’ for meal orders, and the National Train Enquiry System for train status tracking.
The minister commended the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) team's efforts in developing the current Passenger Reservation System (PRS).
This modern PRS can handle ten times the current capacity and is scalable, multilingual, and versatile, processing 400,000 queries per minute and 150,000 ticket reservations.
Features such as advanced seat selection and fare scheduling, along with integrated services for patients, students, and daily commuters, will be included in the upcoming PRS, according to ministry reports.
To further enhance passenger comfort, the Railways is implementing ongoing improvements. Over the last decade, the passenger experience has seen significant advancements due to factors like the introduction of new generation trains, station upgrades, the replacement of older carriages with new LHB carriages, and more.
