Srinagar, Nov 28 (NationPress) - Authorities have dismantled a hideout belonging to the banned terrorist organization, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), in the Awantipora region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, recovering a cache of explosive materials, as reported by police.
In a significant breakthrough against terrorism, police in Awantipora, in collaboration with security forces, uncovered a terrorist hideout associated with the outlawed group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and took into custody a terrorist associate who allegedly provided support to terrorists.
Acting on reliable intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in Naner Midoora, Awantipora police, along with the Army's 42 RR and the CRPF's 180 Bn, initiated a cordon-and-search operation in the vicinity.
During the operation, a terrorist associate named Nazir Ahmed Ganai, son of Abdul Aziz Ganai, from Ganai Mohalla Nanar, was apprehended. After thorough questioning, he revealed the location of a terrorist hideout situated within his family orchard, which was subsequently destroyed.
From this hideout, security personnel recovered two hand grenades, one detonator, and other explosive materials, all of which were confiscated for further examination. The hideout was obliterated on-site under the supervision of an Executive Magistrate, in accordance with established procedures.
According to the police statement, the arrested associate has been implicated in providing logistical support and facilitating the movement of weapons and ammunition for JeM operatives active in the Tral and Awantipora regions of Pulwama.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 257/2025 at the Awantipora Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
