Srinagar, May 15 (NationPress) Three militants belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were neutralized during an encounter with security personnel in the Nader village of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday. Authorities confirmed the identities of the militants as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmad Bhat, all locals from Pulwama.
This incident marks the second armed confrontation in the region within just 48 hours.
Earlier on the same day, the 15 Corps of the Indian Army based in Srinagar stated on X, "On May 15, 2025, acting on specific intelligence from an intelligence agency, a Cordon & Search Operation was initiated by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and Srinagar Sector CRPF in Nader, Tral, Awantipora. The troops observed suspicious movements, and upon engaging, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce gunfight. The operation is ongoing."
The clash began on Thursday as security forces engaged with terrorists who were hiding in the Tral area of Pulwama’s Awantipora sub-division.
The police reported via X, "An encounter has commenced at Nader, Tral area of #Awantipora. Police and security forces are actively involved. More updates will follow."
Following actionable intelligence, security forces encircled Nader village in the Tral tehsil to conduct thorough searches. "As security forces approached the concealed militants, an exchange of gunfire erupted, which continues at present," police stated.
This latest encounter occurs just two days after three militants from Lashkar-e-Taiba were eliminated in an operation in the Keller area of Shopian district.
