Patna, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Central government's initiative to rename the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Raj Bhavans across various states and union territories has ignited a significant political debate nationwide. The Opposition is vehemently opposing this action, leading to an escalation of political tensions in Bihar as well.
During the Winter Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, prominent RJD leader and MLA Bhai Virendra launched a staunch critique of the Central government's move.
Addressing the media, he stated that merely altering names would not enhance the nation’s circumstances.
“Altering names will not transform the nation's face,” he asserted.
He further emphasized, “Real progress in the country will only be achieved when we tackle unemployment, establish factories, manage inflation, and reduce crime rates. Renaming the Prime Minister's office or residence will not deliver any real benefits to the citizens.”
Bhai Virendra accused the government of allowing crime to soar and insisted that the administration should prioritize genuine issues rather than engage in superficial actions.
Regarding the ongoing demolition operations in Bihar, the RJD MLA urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to first ensure adequate support for those affected before proceeding with demolition activities.
Since Wednesday morning, bulldozers have been in operation across seven districts in Bihar: Patna, Gopalganj, Chhapra, Motihari, Bhagalpur, Samastipur, and Nalanda.
Interestingly, six permanent structures were demolished in Motihari, while the Municipal Corporation in Bihar Sharif removed encroachments in the Sohsarai area, clearing numerous roadside businesses.
When questioned by journalists about the absence of Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav, Bhai Virendra reacted sharply, asking, “Have you lost your mind?”
LoP Yadav's absence during the Governor's address at the joint session has sparked considerable discussion within the Assembly today.
Despite the session's significance, he departed for Delhi, stirring widespread speculation.
In recent months, Bhai Virendra has found himself at the center of numerous controversies.
Prior to the elections, an audio recording surfaced in which he allegedly threatened a secretary in the Maner Assembly constituency, leading to police involvement and public outcry.
