New Delhi, June 27 (NationPress) Delhi's Water Minister Parvesh Verma declared on Friday that the completion of an 80 MGD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) will significantly enhance water availability in the Chhatarpur area of south Delhi.
The raw water will be sourced from Himachal Pradesh to the WTP, ensuring that thousands of residents gain access to dependable and clean water.
Additionally, Verma revealed that 85 tube wells have been approved for the area, with installation already underway.
“Projects to connect underground reservoirs are advancing rapidly to improve water storage and distribution. In terms of sanitation, bidding for sewerage projects has been finalized, and work will commence soon,” he noted.
The Minister visited the Chhatarpur Assembly constituency to assess local development initiatives and interact directly with the community.
Expressing his profound bond with the region, he stated, “Chhatarpur is not merely a political constituency for me — it is integral to my life. My father served as an MP from here. I have a deep-rooted understanding of its challenges and its essence. Serving the public here transcends politics; it is a familial obligation.”
During his visit, Verma engaged with residents at various key spots, including 100 Feet Road, CDR Chowk, Jonapur Village, Neb Sarai Chaupal, and Maidangarhi Village. He listened to their concerns and promised expedited, accountable development.
He also announced that Mandi Road would be transferred to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening and upgrading to national standards, offering long-lasting relief from congestion and inadequate road conditions.
“Our commitment is unmistakable — Delhi's villages will not be overlooked. Under the BJP’s leadership, rural development is not just a slogan but a mission. Every village deserves the same quality infrastructure and amenities that urban areas enjoy,” he affirmed.
“Whether it involves roads, clean water, or sewer systems — every vital service is being prioritized. I assure you, funding will not obstruct the advancement of Delhi's rural regions. We are not only constructing infrastructure but also fostering trust,” he emphasized.
