New Delhi, Oct 27 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu took part in the Chhath Puja festivities at the President’s Estate, where devotees presented Arghya to the setting sun. The President offered prayers for the health and prosperity of her fellow citizens, as stated by an official on Monday.

Earlier that day, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena met with the President to extend greetings for Chhath, while Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also participated in prayers and visited several ghats to greet the devotees.

In a post on X, LG Saxena remarked, “Today, I had a courtesy meeting with the Honourable President and conveyed Diwali and Chhath Mahaparv greetings to her. As always, her company was incredibly inspiring.”

At a different location, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta offered her Chhath prayers.

In a message on X, CM Gupta expressed, “Warm greetings to all of you on the evening ‘Arghya’ of the great festival of Chhath. Today, while offering Arghya to the setting sun along the banks of the Yamuna in Sonia Vihar, I pray that the light of happiness, prosperity, and progress may always illuminate the lives of all Delhiites.”

She emphasized, “This festival transcends faith; it celebrates the discipline, devotion, and folk culture that has made Delhi a beacon of unity in diversity and modernity in tradition.”

CM Gupta stated, “Today, the soil, ghats, and Yamuna of Delhi shine with Chhath devotion. May Delhi remain perpetually clean, safe, and prosperous through the boundless grace of Chhathi Maiya, and may the flame of faith be ignited in every home, filling every heart with new hope.”

Earlier, CM Gupta visited Chhath Park in Mangolpuri, where she engaged in worship alongside Chhath devotees to seek blessings from Chhath Maiya.

She was joined by MP Yogendra Chandolia, MLA Rajkumar Chauhan, State BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and other distinguished guests.

Following that, the Chief Minister moved to Sonia Vihar Pushta on the banks of the Yamuna. She actively participated in the Chhath festival, which spanned from Pushta to the Sports Complex, Ram Ghat, and Shyam Ghat, utilizing a boat to travel.

In the final segment, the Chief Minister arrived at Vasudev Ghat on the Yamuna River at Kashmiri Gate to pay her respects to the setting sun. She celebrated Chhath alongside devotees and their families.

A grand cultural program was also held at Vasudev Ghat, showcasing traditional folk songs, dances, and various cultural displays.

The Chief Minister noted that the Delhi Government has made special arrangements this year. Model Chhath ghats have been established at 17 locations along the Yamuna River, extending from Palla to Kalindi Kunj.

All provisions at these ghats, including tents, lighting, sanitation, drinking water, toilets, and medical support, have been assured by the Delhi Government.

CM Gupta affirmed that the Delhi Government is fully dedicated to ensuring this sacred festival is a safe, clean, and dignified experience for all devotees. MP Manoj Tiwari, Development and Tourism Minister of the Delhi Government, Kapil Mishra, and other dignitaries were present at these events.
