New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her commitment to providing a memorable Chhath festival for devotees this year, announcing that comprehensive preparations have been made for Purvanchal brothers and sisters at all Yamuna ghats from Palla to Kalindi.
In a video message shared on X, Chief Minister Gupta stated: “After many years, our brothers and sisters will finally worship the Sun along the banks of Yamuna Ji and offer Arghya. We have made thorough preparations… Heartfelt wishes to everyone. I pray to Chhathi Maiya for her blessings to be with us all.”
Previously, Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra, along with BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva, visited various Chhath Ghats across Delhi to evaluate the arrangements and preparations.
He reviewed the conditions at Mayur Vihar Ghat, Ashok Nagar, Kondli, and Trilokpuri, and later checked on Vasudev Ghat, where CM Gupta was also in attendance.
Together, they assessed cleanliness, lighting, safety, tent installations, water levels, and traffic management. The Minister also inspected other ghats, including Sonia Vihar.
Mishra noted an exceptional excitement for Chhath Puja across Delhi this year.
He revealed that the Delhi Government has ensured all essential facilities at over 1,300 Chhath Ghats this year. Officials from various departments, including administration, municipal bodies, Jal Board, police, and sanitation, are consistently present at the ghats to guarantee devotees face no inconvenience.
The Minister emphasized that special attention has been given to the cleaning and beautification of the Yamuna riverbanks and ghats this year.
Each ghat is equipped with proper lighting, safety measures, drainage systems, and medical teams from the Health Department. Local representatives, councillors, officials, and volunteer organizations were also involved during the inspection.
Mishra personally evaluated the cleaning quality and tent arrangements, engaging with devotees for feedback on the facilities.
Later, addressing the media, Mishra explained that prior governments had prohibited the performance of Chhath Puja on the banks of the Yamuna. Devotees were even wrongfully charged for performing rituals.
“However, times have changed. This year, grand celebrations are taking place along the banks of the Yamuna. This represents not only a symbol of faith but also the significant improvements in cleanliness at the ghats,” he remarked.
He added that this year’s Chhath Puja in Delhi is being celebrated on an unprecedented scale. “The Aam Aadmi Party is currently protesting the cleanliness of the Yamuna, yet they were in power for 11 years. We have been in government for only 7 months, and what they could not achieve in over a decade, we have successfully accomplished in this brief period. The transformation of the Yamuna is evident to all. This change embodies the dedication and effort of the people of Delhi,” he stated.
