Raipur, June 22 (NationPress) The saying 'where there is a will, there is a way' has truly come to life for Shalu Dahariya, a talented Softball player from Chhattisgarh. She has been selected to represent India in the Women's Softball Asia Cup, set to take place in China in early July.
Shalu was overjoyed at the news of her selection for the Softball Championship scheduled from July 14 to 20 in Xi'an, China. However, her excitement was tempered with concern as her family struggled to afford the necessary travel expenses.
Having started her Softball journey at a young age and accumulated over a dozen awards, Shalu was disheartened by her family's financial constraints.
To make the trip to China, she required Rs 1.7 lakh, a sum that was beyond her parents' reach.
Her father, employed as a security guard, faced challenges in covering the costs.
But joy returned to their lives with a phone call on a Sunday morning. The call came from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who reassured Shalu and her family that financial barriers would no longer prevent her from participating in the Asia Cup.
During a video call, Chief Minister Sai expressed, 'Daughter... you are the pride of Chhattisgarh. Don't worry, prepare to leave for the Softball Asia Cup in China. The government will cover all necessary expenses. Best wishes to you.'
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to support youth, especially daughters, in pursuing their careers.
Shortly after, Shalu received another call from the Janjgir District Collector’s office, prompting her to visit. Upon her arrival, Collector Janmejay Mahobe presented her with a cheque for Rs 1.7 lakh.
Shalu's family expressed immense gratitude towards Chief Minister Sai for his assistance and support.
'We are truly thankful to our Chief Minister for his generous help. We are thrilled that he personally spoke with us. Now, my daughter can fulfill her dream,' said Shalu's mother, Alka Dahariya.
