Chirag Paswan Highlights Bihar's Vast Potential in Food Processing Sector

Patna, Dec 2 (NationPress) Union Minister of Food Processing, Chirag Paswan, emphasized the substantial opportunities present in the food processing sector of Bihar during the Food Processing Investor’s Meet 2024 held in Patna on Monday.

Paswan highlighted the joint efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in promoting growth within this sector, aiming to support farmers and strengthen Bihar's economy.

He pointed out the “endless possibilities” in the food processing industry, encouraging stakeholders to envision India as a “world food basket.”

Paswan stressed the significance of bringing Indian food products and brands to global markets, emphasizing the pride and identity it would instill in the nation.

He noted that the event aligns with the government's mission of doubling farmers' income, a vision promoted by PM Modi, and highlighted the necessity of linking Bihar's agricultural base with food processing to ensure farmers directly gain from advancements in this sector.

“Nitish Kumar is dedicated to providing investor-friendly facilities in Bihar. Events like these investor meets are crafted to attract investments that enhance the value chain from farms to markets,” he stated.

He further mentioned that Bihar, being an agriculturally prosperous state, has the potential to emerge as a leader in the food processing industry.

Paswan also motivated farmers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of opportunities to modernize agricultural practices and merge them with processing technologies.

He remarked that the focus on food processing in Bihar is a strategic initiative to utilize the state’s agricultural advantages.

“By establishing infrastructure and policy support for investors, Bihar aims to enhance employment in rural regions, create value-added products for both domestic and international markets, and improve farmers' profitability through better access to processing and export channels,” the minister explained.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan articulated a vision for Bihar's development that aligns with India's broader ambitions for 2047.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions transforming India into a developed nation by the 100th anniversary of independence in 2047, which necessitates the comprehensive development of all Indian states, including Bihar,” he remarked.

He noted that the Central government, under PM Modi's guidance, is dedicated to closing the gap between rural and urban areas to ensure balanced development.

“This approach aims to uplift villages and link them with the growth trajectory of urban centers,” he added.

He stated that investments in the food processing sector can act as a catalyst for industrialization, creating a ripple effect across other industries and enhancing Bihar's economic landscape.

“Such initiatives are anticipated to generate job opportunities, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, while an increased focus on food processing guarantees better prices for agricultural produce,” Paswan concluded.
