Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 3 (NationPress) Khadim Haji Syed Salman Chishty, the Chairman of the Chishty Foundation, has called upon the Government of India to take swift actions aimed at safeguarding Indian nationals in the Middle East.
He emphasized the need for immediate evacuation efforts in light of the intensifying crisis triggered by the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Chishty voiced his profound concern, asserting that this event transcends political boundaries and poses a serious spiritual threat with worldwide implications.
“Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was not just a political leader; he was a supreme religious authority for millions in the global Shia Muslim community, a Marja and spiritual guide whose impact reached beyond Iran's borders,” he remarked.
Chishty drew a parallel between Khamenei’s influence in Shia Islam and the global leadership role of the Pope in the Roman Catholic Church, underscoring the profound significance of this loss.
He condemned the reported assassination attempt on the 86-year-old leader at his residence, labeling it a grave violation of international laws and humanitarian principles.
Furthermore, he highlighted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently facing legal challenges and arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court concerning alleged war crimes, pointing out that European nations are bound by legal obligations under international treaties. “When a leadership already under international legal scrutiny escalates military actions targeting high-ranking religious and political figures, the global community must not remain silent,” he affirmed.
Chishty strongly denounced “any act of targeted assassination, disproportionate military aggression, and reckless escalation that threatens to plunge the region into a broader conflict.”
He stressed that no political figure can embody an entire faith community, stating, “The Jewish faith, like Islam, Christianity, and other religions, upholds principles of justice, moral accountability, and the sanctity of life. Political actions should never be conflated with religious identity.”
Emphasizing India’s historical connections with Iran through Sufi traditions, Persian scholarship, and cultural exchanges, he asserted that India has a significant role as a civilizational bridge at this critical juncture.
“From the sacred grounds of Khawaja Gharib Nawaz, the message is urgent: violence cannot legitimize power, bombings cannot foster peace, and assassination cannot ensure stability; history teaches us that unchecked militarism only leads to greater sorrow,” he declared.
Chishty concluded with a heartfelt prayer from Ajmer Sharif, stating, “Humanity cannot afford another enduring conflict in the Middle East. May Allah safeguard the innocent, provide patience to the bereaved, guide global leaders towards restraint, and avert a wider catastrophe. From Ajmer Sharif, we pray for justice, wisdom, and universal peace.”
