Bhubaneswar, Feb 19 (NationPress) The annual Matriculation and High School Certificate examinations kicked off across Odisha on Thursday, with lakhs of students participating in the assessments while under strict security measures and monitoring.
Examination centers reported a seamless operation on the inaugural day of the exams, which is a major academic milestone for students. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), functioning under the Odisha School & Mass Education (S&ME) Department, is responsible for conducting the examinations.
The S&ME Department has implemented thorough arrangements at educational institutions statewide to ensure the orderly and smooth execution of the examinations, which commenced at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Official reports indicate that 561,979 students took the MIL (Odia) test from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. across 3,082 examination centers in Odisha. The High School Certificate examinations will run until March 2. A three-tier squad system has been established by the board to prevent any dishonest practices during the exams, with continuous surveillance maintained over all examination and nodal centers.
Advanced surveillance systems featuring artificial intelligence are monitoring every phase, from the unsealing of question paper packets to activities within the examination halls. Dedicated inspection teams have been assigned to visit the examination centers across the state.
Authorities confirmed to the media that no disturbances were reported during the examination on Thursday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and S&ME Minister Nityananda Gond extended their best wishes to the students. CM Majhi emphasized, “Remember, this is not just an academic assessment, but a genuine reflection of your resilience, patience, and self-belief. Approach the examination center with a positive attitude and unwavering resolve, as a calm mind and steadfast confidence are the keys to achieving remarkable results. Your hard work and commitment will undoubtedly lead to success beyond your aspirations. Wishing all students exemplary performance and a bright future.”
Minister Gond also encouraged students to attend the examination without succumbing to mental pressure. He further stated on his X handle that significant attention has been directed toward ensuring transparency and discipline throughout the examination process.
