The incident took place at Jyothibapule Hostel in Tupranpet under the Choutuppal mandal.
The victim, identified as Sandhya, jumped from the fourth floor and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Originally from Mahbubnagar, she was reportedly unhappy about staying in the hostel, a situation imposed by her parents. This tragic decision was made just one day following her enrollment.
Authorities have moved the body for an autopsy and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Further updates are pending as the inquiry continues.
K.T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), expressed his sorrow on the social media platform ‘X’, highlighting the disturbing trend of student suicides in Gurukul hostels.
He attributed the tragic incident to the negligence of the Congress government and pointed out the adverse conditions in hostels, such as poor food quality and inadequate facilities, which he claims contribute to such drastic actions among students.
KTR noted that an alarming number of 90 students from Gurukul hostels have died for various reasons, criticizing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his apparent inaction.
He warned that if the series of hostel-related deaths continues, the Congress government may face severe backlash from parents.
In a related incident, 35 students from a tribal girls’ residential school fell ill due to suspected food poisoning in Mudigonda, located in Devarakonda mandal of Nalgonda district.
The affected students reported symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea and were promptly admitted to the local government hospital in Devarakonda.
