Bhopal, Dec 11 (NationPress) Nearly six police personnel experienced a close call when a high-speed vehicle collided with their official car during a night patrol in Bhopal.
The incident occurred late on Wednesday night. Following the collision with the police vehicle at a city junction, the car crashed into a road divider and subsequently overturned.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the officers, except for the driver of the car, who was reportedly intoxicated. The same police officers who narrowly avoided disaster were involved in rescuing the driver.
The unnamed driver was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
A video that emerged on social media showed a black luxury vehicle toppled over after hitting the road divider, repeatedly honking. After pulling the driver from the wreck, one officer was seen attempting to turn off the car's engine.
“The black SUV initially struck the police vehicle before colliding head-on with the road divider and flipping over in a matter of seconds, leaving witnesses in disbelief. Upon rescue, it was clear the driver was under the influence of alcohol,” a police official reported on Thursday.
Further, the officer noted that the driver has been admitted to a hospital, with family members notified. Once he regains consciousness, authorities plan to interrogate him. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing.
This incident follows a tragic event the previous day, where four constables from a bomb squad in Morena lost their lives and another officer sustained serious injuries when their vehicle collided with a container truck in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district. The accident took place in the early hours of Wednesday at around 4 a.m. as the police team was returning to Morena after an extensive anti-Naxal operation.
The container, approaching from the opposite direction, crashed into the police vehicle with such force that it was left unrecognizable, providing little chance for survival for those inside, except for one individual who is currently fighting for their life. Full state honors will be accorded during the last rites in Morena today.
