Reviewing preparations for the state-level Gopalak Sammelan to be held in Bhopal, Dr. Yadav said the conference will deliver a package of dairy and infrastructure projects — led by a ₹255 crore dairy plant in Ujjain, a fermented-product milk plant in Bhopal, quality-testing laboratories, and a groundbreaking for the Bhopal Western Bypass. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah is set to grace the occasion, adding considerable political and policy heft to the event.

₹255 Crore Ujjain Dairy Plant and What It Signals

The headline investment — a ₹255 crore dairy processing plant in Ujjain — is the centrepiece of the October package. Ujjain, located in western Madhya Pradesh, sits at the heart of a milk-surplus belt, and a modern processing facility there would allow raw milk collected by local cooperatives to be value-added close to the source rather than transported over long distances. Alongside it, the Bhopal fermented-product milk plant targets the growing urban market for yoghurt, lassi, chaas, and allied products — higher-margin goods that can directly lift farmer returns.

Dr. Yadav issued directions to officials to make the conference 'comprehensive and well-organised' (व्यापक और सुव्यवस्थित), signalling the state government's intent to project the event as a landmark moment for the sector rather than a routine gathering.

The attendance of Union Minister Amit Shah — who holds the Cooperation portfolio in addition to Home Affairs — is not incidental. The Ministry of Cooperation, carved out in July 2021, was specifically designed to deepen cooperative infrastructure across states, with dairy high on its agenda. Shah's presence at a state-level dairy conference cements the centre-state alignment on this agenda and gives the projects announced on 3 October a direct link to national cooperative policy.
