Bhopal, Jan 16 (NationPress) On Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav executed the transfer of the 32nd instalment of the Ladli Behna Yojana, a flagship welfare program for women initiated by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh.
With a single click, Rs 1,836 crore was deposited into the bank accounts of over 1.25 crore eligible beneficiaries during a ceremonial event in Makhan Nagar within Narmadapuram district.
This marks the first instalment of the Ladli Behna Yojana for the year 2026, with each beneficiary (female) set to receive Rs 1,500.
Additionally, the Chief Minister disbursed over Rs 90 crore to 29 lakh beneficiaries as part of a gas cylinder refilling assistance under the Ujwala Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016. He also inaugurated various development projects worth over Rs 206 crore for the district.
Makhan Nagar, previously known as Hoshangabad and situated along the banks of the Narmada River, is the birthplace of the renowned freedom fighter, poet, and journalist, the late Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi. Upon arrival, Chief Minister Yadav paid floral tributes at his statue.
During the event, which saw a large turnout from Narmadapuram district, Chief Minister Yadav connected with several beneficiaries, gaining insights into how the Ladli Behna Yojana and other flagship initiatives have changed their lives.
This scheme was first introduced with a monthly payment of Rs 1,000 during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a few months before the 2023 Assembly elections.
In September 2023, the monthly amount increased to Rs 1,250, with Chief Minister Yadav announcing plans to raise it to Rs 3,000 by 2028.
According to the state government, from June 2023 to December 2025, a total of Rs 48,632.70 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries under this scheme. With the latest transfer, the cumulative amount has surpassed Rs 50,468 crore.
