CM Nitish Kumar Asserts Commitment to NDA, Rejects Alliance Changes

Patna, Jan 6 (NationPress) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has confirmed his commitment to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), rejecting any notions of forming alliances with alternative political parties.

The Chief Minister was present in Vaishali on Monday as part of his ongoing Pragati Yatra. In discussing his previous decisions to alter alliances, he noted that such proposals were made by those who have since been dismissed.

"Mistakes were made on two occasions, but I am determined to stay with the NDA. Those who proposed changing alliances have been removed,” Kumar stated.

Reflecting on his enduring relationship with the NDA, he recognized the backing of the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, emphasizing their collaborative initiatives during their time in office.

Earlier on January 2, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav expressed that his door remains open for Nitish Kumar.

Lalu commented, “My door is always open. Nitish Kumar should also keep his door open.” When asked if he would forgive Kumar should he return, Lalu replied, “Forgiving has always been my role. If he comes back, I will welcome him back without hesitation. Everyone will collaborate.”

During the Pragati Yatra in Vaishali, Kumar unveiled development projects worth crores of rupees, highlighting the government's commitment to grassroots progress.

CM Nitish Kumar showcased the success of the Jeevika initiative, aimed at empowering women through self-help groups. He expressed pride in having coined the term “Jeevika,” which was later adopted on a national scale as “Ajeevika.”

He also mentioned that these self-help groups under Jeevika have expanded into urban settings as well. This initiative has been instrumental in enhancing women's financial independence and self-confidence.

“In the past, women were less vocal; now they exhibit confidence and financial stability. Such groups were uncommon in Bihar before we scaled up the program,” Kumar remarked.

CM Nitish Kumar reminisced about his role in implementing self-help groups during his time at the national level, underscoring their significance in community empowerment. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to advancing women’s progress through Jeevika and similar programs.
