Khajuraho, Feb 12 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to visit Bageshwar Dham on Friday to take part in a mass wedding event for over 300 couples hailing from economically challenged backgrounds in the Chhatarpur district.
This three-day event, which kicked off on Thursday, is organized by the spiritual leader and head of Bageshwar Dham, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, and will wrap up on February 15, aligning with the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
Shastri recently mentioned that the Bageshwar Dham trust has received upwards of 1,500 applications from 13 states for this year’s celebration. A survey team consisting of 600 members from 60 districts undertook a month-long verification process. Ultimately, 300 couples were chosen, including one from Nepal.
The weddings will occur in the presence of various saints, mahants, and spiritual dignitaries from across the country. Each couple will be gifted a fixed deposit of Rs 30,000, along with gold and silver jewelry and essential household items, as stated by Shastri.
After the mass wedding ceremony at Bageshwar Dham, the Chief Minister will also participate in the Nohleshwar Mahotsav at the historic Nohleshwar temple complex located in Damoh district, as per an official announcement.
The Nohleshwar Temple, situated in Nohata, is celebrated as an example of Kalachuri-period architecture and is believed to date back to the 10th–11th centuries. Its intricately carved pillars, sanctum (garbhagriha), and stonework are regarded as significant from both cultural and architectural viewpoints.
Archaeologists have recognized Nohleshwar as one of the notable Shiva temples in Central India, with considerable religious, historical, and tourism significance.
As part of the festival, a variety of cultural and religious activities, including women’s conferences, farmers’ seminars, and tourism-related programs, will be organized to highlight the region’s rich heritage.
