Key Takeaways
Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 29 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has successfully transferred Rs 200 crore through the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana (Price Deficiency Payment Scheme), directly benefiting over 1.7 lakh soybean farmers during a ‘Kisan Sammelan’ in the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
This initiative represents the fourth instalment of the scheme, which aims to provide financial relief to farmers selling their soybean crops below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The program was revived by CM Mohan Yadav, under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Madhya Pradesh in October 2025.
The Chief Minister credited the funds into the bank accounts of farmers who sold their soybean crops between December 20, 2025, and the scheme's closure.
In total, the government has disbursed Rs 1,692 crore to over 8 lakh farmers, including the Rs 200 crore transferred on Thursday, as per an official statement from the Madhya Pradesh government.
Initially launched in 2017 by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana was designed as an innovative solution to shield farmers from market fluctuations.
CM Yadav’s administration has revitalized the scheme with enhanced digital measures since its reintroduction in October last year. Farmers have been permitted to sell their soybean crops in designated markets from October 2025 to January 15, 2026.
During the Thursday event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects valued at Rs 69.50 crore in Mandsaur district, which includes a four-lane flyover on the Mandsaur–Neemuch route. Additionally, he inaugurated a bridge construction project on the Malhargarh Railway Station Road, costing Rs 2.06 crore.
This ‘Kisan Sammelan’ highlights the Madhya Pradesh government's commitment to fostering growth in the agricultural sector. CM Mohan Yadav has declared 2026 as the 'Agriculture Year'.
