During his visit, he interacted with both shopkeepers and customers, distributing informative pamphlets and banners that detailed the changes in the GST system.
Adityanath emphasized the importance of passing on the savings from the reduced GST rates to consumers and urged traders to favor swadeshi products over foreign imports, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision of creating an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
In his tour, he stopped by Universal Booksellers in the Hazratganj area and later spoke to the media, highlighting that the lowered GST rates are advantageous for all groups—consumers, traders, and entrepreneurs alike.
He pointed out that as the biggest consumer state in India, Uttar Pradesh stands to gain significantly from these GST reforms.
The Chief Minister also revealed that the GST rate has dropped to zero for items like notebooks and pencils, which are crucial for students. Additionally, many essential household goods now fall under the zero or 5 percent tax bracket, and 33 life-saving medicines are completely exempt from GST.
He noted that the rise in market consumption has led to increased production, benefiting both traders and entrepreneurs while creating new job opportunities for youth.
CM Yogi further mentioned that since the implementation of GST, national collections have surged from Rs 7 lakh crore to Rs 22 lakh crore, with Uttar Pradesh’s share rising from Rs 49,000 crore to over Rs 1.15 lakh crore.
Just a day prior, CM Yogi explored malls, shops, and markets in Gorakhpur, urging local traders and business owners to support the GST reforms.
His campaign began with a march from Jhulelal Temple to Gorakhnath Temple Road, where he visited multiple shops to connect with traders and the public.
He also applied “awareness stickers” at a mall and distributed handbills emphasizing the advantages of the reduced GST rates.
